The Keeper of Last Words · Forensic Linguist, Final Utterance Analyst

A forensic linguist who studies final utterances — the exact last words people speak before death. She has catalogued eleven years of endings for other families. She was mid-sentence with her own father, three years ago, telling him about the woman she was going to marry, when his heart simply stopped. She has never been able to determine, from memory alone, whether he heard the end of that sentence.

“I've catalogued eleven thousand final sentences. None of them were 'I should have worked more.' I find that useful to know.”
